Kaname and Zero for Patyby *TonomuraBix

OMG so I had to draw this seemingly simple picture SO.MANY.TIMES. I'm so happy to finally have it done haha. But yesh this is a commission for the sweet Paty, who asked for a pic of Zero biting Kaname (Vampire Knight). <3 I was really excited to do this VK fanart, until the poses and Kaname's face would not cooperate, JEEZ. I've been looking at this for so long, I'm still angry with Kaname's fae.. and also, srsly how the managaka draws his hair is so weird, his bangs confuse me lol. And their seifuku are so badass, but also OMG so complicated to draw lol.

Anyhoo I hope she likes it, and despite all the frustrations I do like this pic for the most part haha... the coloring was fun anyway.

Done with copic markers, ink, gel pen, BG with prisma color pencils:

Only real issue I have is with their skintones :S Am I weird or what? I get that Zero's face here is in shadow of Kaname's head, but he seems too dark to me, and Kaname far too pale... I KNOW he's a vampire and all that but... he works much better with a warm color palate when you go for brown hair... if you go for BLACK hair on him or very very dark brown, paleness is a little better, but I actually think of him as more of an ivory then porcelin... Zero is porcelin and cool toned... White-Pale Kaname just looks weird XP XP

I know Kaname is usually colored differently, but I thought he should be paler, so that's what I went for.

Zero, in my eyes, not being a full fledged Vampire yet and not having to stay sun free would be darker than Kaname (but still pale) and I wanted him to look in darker lighting in general to show the difference in moods. But yeah, this isn't for me, it's for my client. Thank you at any rate~

I read a tiny bit of Vampire Knight D: I did love the look of it thouuuugh C:. Great work on this Bix C: I love the colouring work on this, the colours all work together so nicely, I love the dark colour scheme. And nice work on the shading too, the tones all look so smooth and blended, especially on the clothing. Great work on the poses as well, the interaction between the characters is great

XD I read a tiny bit of VK recently after snagging a vol dirt cheap. Not bad, and the boys are so pretty. *___* You made them ever prettier!! XD They look awesome, and mmm the blood and BG!!
